On 19th February 2018, Ballinascreen Credit Union held an Afternoon Tea in the Market Inn, Draperstown, to launch of 50th Anniversary celebrations.

The 19th February 2018 represented 50 years to the day since the inaugural meeting of the credit union which was addressed by Mr John Hume, then a member of the European Parliament and President of the Credit Union League of Ireland.

Those in attendance included former directors and staff, current directors and staff, representatives from other credit unions and representatives of deceased former officers. There were a number of speakers on the day speaking on behalf of Ballinascreen Credit Union, the Irish League of Credit Unions and the World Council of Credit Unions.

The evening was finished off with some refreshments and entertainment provided by Tim McGarry.

A celebratory booklet was also produced to mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary, highlighting various milestones as well as marking the contribution of the numerous volunteers down the years. These booklets are free of charge and are available from the credit union office.
